The Popular Party has surprised in Teguise by appointing Rita Hernández as a candidate for the City Council. The official presentation took place this Monday, at the headquarters of the formation in Arrecife, where the island president, Ástrid Pérez, and the head of the Teguise Local Committee, Ángel Vázquez, were present.
Hernández has an extensive political career in which she has gone through several formations. She began in the ranks of the PIL and later, after the massive departure of the island formation to APL, she joined Coalición Canaria, acronyms with which she became general director of Planning and Tourism Promotion of the Canarian Government, under the presidency of Paulino Rivero.
For some years she had retired from the front line of politics and was more focused on business, having been elected president of the Lanzarote Rent a Car Association.

During the presentation, Ástrid Pérez stated that incorporating Rita Hernández into the Popular Party project is "an effort" that she has maintained for years. “I am convinced of her worth and how much she can contribute to politics and the party. We are talking about a hard-working, fighting and efficient woman, a woman who never gives up, who knows Teguise and who will be the architect of the great change that the municipality requires”, she defended.
Rita Hernández, for her part, spoke of the "illusion" she feels of returning to political life after eight years. “I am happy and, as a woman convinced of municipalism, I am very eager to be able to fight and work again for the residents of Teguise and La Graciosa”, she pointed out. Hernández thanked the party for the trust she has received and promised teamwork. “Those who know me know that this is how I like to work and that is how, as a team, we are going to walk the path”, she insisted.
