The El Riadero Neighborhood Association of Los Cocoteros wanted to express their "discomfort" with the government group of Teguise, denouncing their "negligence" with this town.
In a statement, this group claims to have waited "a reasonable time to see what actions were taken" after the PP "echoed the neglect" in this coastal area. However, they criticize that "the only thing that was done was the photo shoot that was done to Mr. Eugenio Robayna."
"It is the same action that he knows how to do every time the opposition publishes news of the deficiencies of the towns," add the neighbors, who claim to feel "outraged" with the statements of the Councilor for Roads and Works who, after the complaint from the Popular Party, stated that the City Council had been making improvements in Los Cocoteros for "two months", accusing the PP of using images that "do not conform to reality."
Demands of the neighborhood group
The El Riadero Neighborhood Association of Los Cocoteros lists a series of issues that it claims to have been demanding from the councilor for years. "We have been demanding the telephone line for about 30 years now, and today we still have a precarious 3G system that does not reach 20 megabytes," he points out first.Likewise, he points out that the government group has also been asked to rehabilitate the so-called "muellito" and a staircase for access to the sea from it. "But due to their disinterest, they dismiss it as illegal," adds the group, which explains that this dock has "about 40 years of history" and that "many neighbors spent their childhood" in it.
The El Riadero Neighborhood Association of Los Cocoteros assures that it has also insisted to the councilor on the remodeling of La Charca beach, but that "the only thing he knows how to do is put a little jable to take his corresponding photo." "He has been warned on several occasions that the jable is not a solution for this," indicates the group, which explains that "due to the wind in the area, it is dragged into the water." "In 2018, a large tidal wave destroyed part of the wall that acts as a souk, and Mr. Eugenio filled his mouth saying in the media that 'there is no evil that does not come for good' and that he would improve the area. We are still waiting," he adds.
In this regard, he points out that in a meeting with some members of the previous board, in which the mayor, a representative of Coasts, a technician, Eugenio and other City Council staff were present, they agreed to reinforce the breakwater that protects the town from strong tidal waves. However, he states that "three years have passed and nothing." "Both for the La Charca area and for the breakwater they have excused themselves in permits from Coasts, but they forget the verbal permit that the representative of Coasts gave him in his day, the group states.
Cleaning and gardens
Another point of neglect according to the El Riadero Neighborhood Association "is the cleaning of the town." "Normally the sweeper usually comes when the mayor comes to meet with the town, but it has been more than two years since it was swept, accumulating in some areas large amounts of earth dragged by the rains. Some operators usually come to clean once every 30 – 60 days, but only clean the entrance, leaving the rest to their fate," he details.

"Another of the news that they published with great fanfare was the repainting of the road signs, but they laugh at the neighbors again, since they only painted the zebra crossings, leaving the stop signs, the direction of the roads, the bus stop and the limitation of parking to the imagination of the drivers," adds the neighborhood group, which states that "another of the lost promises was the commitment to put floated concrete on the courts, since it is made of piche and the kids scrape their knees every time they fall."
"Surely we will be left with more neglect on the part of the government group of Teguise. There are so many, that we cannot with all of them," concludes the El Riadero Neighborhood Association of Los Cocoteros.
