The National Police cooperates with France to locate the minors missing in Lanzarote

The National Police, through the Aliens and Borders Unit, has activated mechanisms of judicial and police cooperation with France to continue advancing in Operation Triton, the police investigation that dismantled an international network dedicated to the trafficking of tutored migrant minors between Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and the French country. To date, twelve girls and one boy tutored by the Government of the Canary Islands remain missing.

According to sources from the Immigration Unit confirmed to the National Police, there have been no new arrests in the framework of this macro-operation, which investigates crimes related to membership in a criminal organization, document forgery, against family rights and duties, concealment, and child pornography.

To date, there have been a total of eleven arrests in the archipelago, nine of them in Lanzarote. This case is more alarming on the island of volcanoes since, unlike the capital islands, it only has eight reception centers for migrant minors, of small or medium size, where fewer than a hundred minors live together: **six are island-owned** and **two belong to the Government of the Canary Islands**.

The Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Marciano Acuña (CC), stated in declarations to this media outlet, when the investigation broke out, that the institution had alerted the police to the disappearance of the minors, which were registered between May and November of this year.

However, at that moment, neither the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Canary Islands Government nor the corresponding department of the Cabildo of Lanzarote wished to answer *La Voz*'s questions about which specific center had registered the cases, who the **responsible company** was, and to which **public institution** its hiring corresponded
