The Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos confluence has not obtained the expected results in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and has been about to lose its only representative for the island in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, two of the most important candidacies that were defended on the election night of May 26. They have done better in Arrecife, where they have increased their representation from two to three councilors. In addition, they maintain the councilor they already had in Tías and Yaiza and enter for the first time in the town halls of Teguise and San Bartolomé, where they did not present a candidacy in 2015, with one representative in each.

The completely renovated list of Podemos to the Cabildo of Lanzarote, after the controversial primaries between the previous candidate and councilor, Carlos Meca, and María Antonia Perera, has suffered a significant setback compared to 2015. Of the three councilors obtained by the list headed by Meca, Podemos loses one of them and drops from 5,749 votes to 3,705, which means a loss of more than 2,000 votes and a drop of 35.55%.

In the case of the island list to the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Podemos has finally managed to maintain its representation in the figure of María del Río, although until the last hour of the count that seat has been in dispute with CC. Del Río has obtained 8.09% of the votes compared to 14.71% obtained in 2015. This difference means that Podemos has lost 41% of its support and a figure of 2,779 votes.

Fourth political force in Arrecife

The fall of Podemos in Lanzarote has had its counterweight in the Arrecife City Council, where it goes from two to three councilors. However, in number of votes its increase is not very significant, since it has gained 141 new votes to reach 1,700 in the capital.

For the head of the Arrecife list, Leticia Padilla, who was repeating her candidacy, "being the fourth force in Arrecife is already a success", she declared when the count was not yet definitive. And, effectively, they are positioned as the fourth force after PSOE, CC and PP.

The other good news for the purple formation is that it enters San Bartolomé and Teguise, two municipalities in which they are presenting a candidacy for the first time and obtain a councilor in each. The candidate for Teguise, Elsa Betancort, has obtained 530 votes, 6.33% of the support and joins the corporation. In the case of San Bartolomé, Maite Gorritz will be the new councilor after receiving 467 votes and 6.51% of the support.

In Yaiza and Tías they continue to maintain a representative. Nicolás Saavedra will repeat in the Tías City Council as councilor after obtaining 326 votes, 67 ballots less than those obtained four years ago under the Ganemos Lanzarote brand. For his part, Ramiro Muñoz, who also repeats as councilor of Podemos, in this case in Yaiza, gets 301 votes, ten more than four years ago.
