New war between partners in Arrecife: "CC is not going to commit any illegality to cover up Armando Santana's ineptitude"

The cancellation of the Arrecife Sunset Festival has unleashed a new war between two of the partners that are part of the capital's government group, with harsh accusations exchanged over the lack of permits for that event. In the case of the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce for Nueva Canarias, Armando Santana, pointed as responsible to an area governed by CC, but the nationalists accuse him of "lying" and have publicly demanded that he rectify.

"The Canarian Coalition is not going to commit any illegality to cover up Armando Santana's incompetence and ineptitude," the party said in a statement, sent on behalf of the Nationalist Youth of Lanzarote. In addition, they ask their partner to "publicly apologize" and accuse him of having acted "not caring about endangering the safety of the attendees."

Regarding the reason for the cancellation of the festival last weekend, the Youth of CC deny that the fault was with the Classified Activities area. "In the town halls, each area is in charge of managing its permits and, at a minimum, they must be processed a month before, something that Santana should already know," they point out.

“After three years in the government, Mr. Armando Santana should already know the procedure and not be evading responsibilities by saying that they belong to others. That he is unaware of the procedure at this point is dangerous, but much more dangerous is that he knows it and is lying and trying to deceive”, they add.

Absence of a Coast permit and "two unfavorable reports"

In this case, they maintain that the first permit had to be issued by the General Directorate of Coasts, and that the organizing company was the one who had to request it, "with an advance notice that was not met." "The City Council was only a collaborator," the Youth emphasize. In addition, they affirm that there are two unfavorable reports from the Technical Office - which they point out is not managed by CC, but by the PP - so they conclude that “it is impossible for Classified Activities to give any permission”.

“If a Councilor for Classified Activities denied authorization to an event that complies with everything the law says, he would be committing a crime, and that is not what has happened here,” they add.

In addition, the Nationalist Youth ask themselves "what is going to happen now with the events that the aforementioned festival has planned for this coming weekend, that is, whether or not it has the pertinent permits or whether, again, Councilor Armando Santana will evade his responsibility and blame the CC colleagues in the City Council".

Finally, the youth organization emphasizes that someone who holds a public office “should be a little more serious and rigorous in the management of public money and in the holding of events where our obligation is to ensure the safety of people and not just take the photo”.

This new escalation of tension between NC and CC adds to others that they have maintained since the Canarian Coalition joined the government of Arrecife. On previous occasions, Santana has already accused CC of "disloyalty" and of "destroying the institutions" in which it governs.
