Agents of the Arrecife Local Police arrested a 50-year-old Lanzarote man on November 2nd for an alleged gender-based violence offense. He was subsequently brought before the judicial authorities.

The officers were dispatched by the Local Police Central after receiving an alert call. They then proceeded to the building where the couple's home is located, in a neighborhood of Arrecife, alerted by neighbors who reported hearing arguments between the couple. According to the neighbors, these arguments were frequent.

Local Police officers questioned the woman and the alleged abuser. According to a statement from the Local Police, the detainee was aggressive and prevented the woman from speaking freely to the officers without being intimidated, as noted in the police report.

The agents' investigation allowed them to obtain a medical report of the victim's injuries, which reflects that her partner allegedly "tried to throw her down the stairs".

The Local Police of Arrecife are constantly assisting victims of gender-based violence, and remind those who may be suffering from it, as well as those who witness it, to always alert law enforcement agencies to investigate and assist victims.
