Arrecife is experiencing hours of dismay after learning the identity of the woman who lost her life this Saturday in a tragic accident. She is Mrs. Matilde Viera Silva, a highly regarded resident of the Lanzarote capital and wife of Alfonso Duro Cabezón, a renowned musician closely linked to the city's culture and history.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has publicly expressed his regret and that of the entire Municipal Corporation for this painful loss.
"With enormous pain we feel in our city that her loss was due to a fatal accident. On behalf of the City Council, all municipal workers, and myself, I extend my condolences to the family of Mrs. Matilde Viera Silva, with a special and strong embrace to her husband Alfonso Duro Cabezón and her children," expressed the mayor.
The mayor also highlighted the affection and respect that the entire community feels for the Duro Viera family, "highly appreciated and loved in our capital and throughout the island of Lanzarote."
The funeral of Mrs. Matilde Viera Silva will take place on Monday, November 3, from the Mémora Funeral Home, located on the road to San Bartolomé, in Argana Alta.
