Jacobo Medina, who until this past Monday, March 10, was the general secretary of the Popular Party of Lanzarote, has spoken out after the popular president on the island, Ástrid Pérez, dismissed him from the position. "I want to thank all the members of the Lanzarote Committee for the trust placed in me during these years," he said.

This decision comes after Ástrid Pérez removed Jacobo Medina from the Vice Presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote at the end of January, relegating him only to the areas of Public Works, Technical Office and Mobile Park and removing him from the area of Planning and Coordination of Projects. The Vice-Presidency was then assumed by María Jesús Tovar, who also replaced Medina in Planning and Coordination and who also maintains the areas of Economy and Finance.

After La Voz exclusively revealed his dismissal from the General Secretariat of the PP of Lanzarote, Medina wanted to thank also the members, supporters and public officials of the party for "the affection and support" that he says, "they have shown him from the first day in this position".

Thus, Medina is removed as general secretary five and a half years after assuming the position. For him, all this has been "with the sole objective of strengthening our project and serving our land" and he has defended that, despite everything, "the Popular Party is a great family" and for him "it continues to be so in the most literal sense".

The current island councilor of Public Works has added that his two children "have grown up between the headquarters, stuffing envelopes, distributing and placing posters, and that shows that I am not the best, but I have the best team: my family", he continued in a text that he made public this Tuesday. He also wanted to thank "the enormous support of many people who do not need to be named, because when reading these words they know perfectly well who they are".

Finally, Medina has indicated that he will continue to give his all for this party in which he believes and in which "there are great managers of public affairs. That is what is truly important".
