The vice president of the Canarian Coalition (CC) representing Lanzarote, José Torres Stinga, will assume the Presidency of the formation until the celebration of the IV National Congress of the party, when the governing bodies will be renewed, due to the imminent investiture of the current holder of the position, Paulino Rivero, as President of the Regional Executive, scheduled for July 11.

This was announced this Monday by the Secretary of Organization of CC, José Miguel Barragán, who explained that a date has not yet been set for this event, which could be held before or after the general elections, initially set for March 2008, an option he considered the most appropriate.

Rivero's replacement will be made official during an Executive Commission (the highest governing body between congresses) that will take place shortly after the Parliamentary Investiture Session, although it has not yet been decided on which specific weekend it will take place.

In a press conference after the meeting of the permanent committee of the nationalists held this Monday, Barragán also denied that the Herreña Group of Independents (AHÍ) -the only party member of CC that retains its acronym- has proposed to the body to "move to the Mixed Group of the Regional Chamber", as a sign of the prevailing discontent over what they consider a participation in the new Government lower than what would correspond to them for their contribution in deputies obtained in the elections of May 27. "The deputies of CC-AHI have already signed the writing of formation of the group (of CC)", he assured, adding that he had "nothing to object with respect to the relations" between the regional and herreña directions.

Previously, he had assured that politicians from the formation of all the Islands will have representation in the organizational chart of the new Executive.
