Jacobo Medina on his visit to La Graciosa

The candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Jacobo Medina, traveled last Tuesday, May 23, to the eighth island to convey to the residents of Caleta de Sebo the PP's plan to transform the island of La Graciosa starting next May 29.

During his visit to the island, accompanied by the number two to Parliament, Pancho Hernández, and the candidate for Mayor of Teguise, Rita Hernández, Medina pointed out that "La Graciosa needs an urgent rescue after four years of neglect by the socialist government of the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands itself, which have abandoned all the residents of the island to their fate."

A concern that Rita Hernández also shares, for whom "it is essential to approve the management of natural resources as well as the use and management thereof, which allows the residents of La Graciosa to define their future and guarantee their development as a people," she says. "La Graciosa needs a great plan to recover hope, to recover the basic services it needs in terms of management, cleaning, security and social welfare," the candidate highlighted.

For his part, Medina pointed out that one of the first actions as president will be "to work to solve the serious water supply problems suffered by the island."

"Despite the fact that many people talk about La Graciosa, the truth is that neither CC nor the Socialist Party have been able to solve the needs of the residents of La Graciosa, who in 2023 continue to suffer the consequences of the continuous breakages of a completely obsolete pipeline," Medina acknowledged. Along with the supply of drinking water, he also emphasizes "the unfinished sanitation network that is still not operational after the emergency works declared in 2016 were suspended."

Another urgent issue is undoubtedly "that of waste and the need to install a clean point where residents can deposit different waste and avoid the accumulation of debris and other materials in any space," he collected. A situation that "must be avoided at all costs in a space that is also a natural park," he made clear.

"Solve as soon as possible the telephone and internet connection problems that are repeated over and over again"

Jacobo Medina shared with the residents the "need to install fiber optics to La Graciosa to solve as soon as possible the telephone and internet connection problems that are repeated over and over again."

"We are not going to allow the residents of La Graciosa to suffer blackouts in telecommunications over and over again and be left without ATMs, without card readers in businesses and without domestic connection when many people use the internet to work," Medina underlined.
