The management of Inalsa wonders "what are the real reasons that are leading Unelco-Endesa to not want to negotiate to settle the debt that is maintained with them, when multiple options have been offered to them". In the opinion of the company's management, "with these doubts on the table, the only answer that seems to exist, in the absence of explanations from the electricity company, is the discomfort that seems to have generated the appeal filed by Inalsa with respect to the wind power tender, in the hands of the Ministry of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands".
In said tender, the winner of the Lanzarote wind farm was Unelco-Endesa and the public water company was discarded, alleging a technical failure in the presentation of its project. However, Inalsa appealed this decision, alleging that it met all the established parameters, and requesting that the award in favor of Unelco be annulled.
In addition, the Cabildo has also sent another press release this Wednesday, to respond to the news published by the newspaper Canarias 7, in which it was pointed out that the Ministry of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands is going to analyze the legal and economic situation of the Insular de Aguas company when assessing the appeal filed by Inalsa against the ruling of the Wind Power Tender. That is to say, that the entry of a creditors' contest in the public company could once again leave it out of that award.
In this regard, the first institution points out that this decision would be "purely political and is covered with a veneer of objectivity and free competition, due to the manifest hostility of the Government of the Canary Islands towards the Government of the Cabildo of Lanzarote".
Debt
On the other hand, and in view of the information published by various media, in which it is stated that Unelco has put Inalsa's total debt at 52 million euros, despite the fact that it only recognizes 38, the management of the water company has insisted that "according to the economic data with which the administration department works, Inalsa officially owes almost 39 million euros to different creditors".
Even so, the public water company has stated that, "despite the fact that the official debt recorded in the accounting does not reach 39 million euros, it is true that the corresponding department makes forecasts in some liability items as a precaution". However, they add that "not even taking into account these forecasts, the figures provided by Unelco-Endesa can be confirmed".
