He stole a purse and ended up admitted to the General Hospital seriously injured with bone fractures in both feet. It happened in the early hours of this Thursday. A man who had stolen a purse in an establishment in Costa Teguise jumped over a seven-meter-high wall while fleeing from the Civil Guard. The escape caused him an injury for which he will have to remain hospitalized for between two and four months.

According to the agents, around four in the morning, the criminal took advantage of a carelessness of the waitress of the establishment "Recreativos Trébol" in Costa Teguise" to steal her handbag from the bar where drinks are served. When the victim realized what had happened, she called the Civil Guard, but the perpetrator had already left the premises.

During the search, the agents found the bag thrown in a nearby alley but without the victim's money. At the same time, it was observed how the alleged thief was running towards the wall that limits the sports courts of the tourist complex of "Los Zocos". The part where he had climbed had little altitude, but with seven meters of height with respect to the ground level of the sports complex. The criminal jumped to try to evade the persecution of the agents and was seriously injured.

The agents urgently transferred him to the General Hospital of Lanzarote where he was admitted and underwent surgery. There, the Civil Guard identified the perpetrator as N.H. of 40 years and a native of the United Kingdom, and recovered the money and stolen objects. Now the detainee will have to remain hospitalized for between two and four months, due to the serious injuries suffered.

For its part, the Civil Guard is trying to locate a woman, whose identity is unknown, since according to some witnesses she was accompanying the perpetrator at the time of the theft.
