García Déniz announces the upcoming opening of two new Civil Guard barracks in Haría and La Graciosa

The island director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, Carmelo García Déniz, presented this Tuesday, February 19, the 18 new temporary members of the Civil Guard who will offer their services for one year in Lanzarote. Two women and 16 men, mostly from the Canary Islands, who will perform the same functions as the rest of the staff except for administrative tasks. With them, the number of civil guards in Lanzarote amounts to 370 with the 43 temporary ones that currently exist, in addition to the 31 members of the Traffic Civil Guard. A number that García Déniz considered "insufficient" for the island.

"Five of the new temporary members of the Civil Guard come from Lanzarote", Carmelo García Déniz assured, something that could benefit the stability of the staff since after the one-year period in training regime, it is more possible that when choosing the final destination they will select Lanzarote.

New barracks

Likewise, the Island Delegate announced that they are working to open two new barracks, one in the municipality of Haría and another on the island of La Graciosa, which are still in the process of materializing, although according to Déniz, he hopes they can be ready for summer or Easter, which is when there is more population on the island.
