The two councilors from the Canarian Coalition of the San Bartolomé city council have submitted their resignation today and withdrawn their support for the mayor of this municipality, Miguel Martín (Canarian Nationalist Center), municipal sources informed Efe.

This initiative is due to the guidelines set by their political formation and in response to the demands of the Island Pact signed by CC, Independent Party of Lanzarote and Canarian Socialist Party (PSC)

The councilor for education, agriculture, livestock and housing of the Arrecife City Council, Angela Aparicio Hernández, and the councilor for Culture, Heritage, Environment, citizen participation and children's schools, Juan Antonio de la Hoz, have presented their resignation at the San Bartolomé Consistory with a registration document number 6502.

The two CC councilors withdraw their support for the mayor, arguing that they are following "the guidelines of our organization", signatories of the island pact together with PIL and PSC to guarantee the governability of the Arrecife City Council, that of San Bartolomé and the Island Council after the resignation of the councilors and advisors of the PP in these institutions.

With this resignation of the CC councilors, dictated by their party, it is intended to enforce the island pact in this consistory that would grant the mayoralty to the PSC.

The government group of this City Council is formed, after the departure of the nationalist councilors, by the Popular Party (readmitted by Miguel Martín after his resignation a month ago), CCN and PIL, who continue to give the mayor the majority to continue governing, pending the PIL's decision to continue supporting Miguel Martín or the island pact.
