Coalition Canaria will propose an institutional agreement in the next municipal plenary session of San Bartolomé that includes the "commitment of all political groups" to the burying of the LZ-2 at the height of Playa Honda, after the announcement by the Canarian Government that it is discarding this option and that it will opt for the creation of a new alternative road between Argana and the airport.

The nationalist spokesperson in San Bartolomé, David Rocío, has described the PSOE's decision as "a real joke." "The councilor Sebastián Franquis must think that the 'batateros' are stupid," he states.

He also indicates that he will request a meeting with the Council to explain and argue the reasons that have led them to opt for building a new road.

"Of the seven alternatives that appear in the feasibility report, six study and assess different formulas for burying the road, and only one contemplates the construction of a road," adds Rocío. "None of the seven alternatives concludes with a report against it, which means that technically and financially all are viable, but the one that the Government ends up choosing, that is, building a new road, is the one that makes the least sense," he warns.

In addition, the CC spokesperson emphasizes that this alternative "is not the cheapest, nor the most balanced in terms of land and territory consumption, nor the most effective in solving the bottleneck at the entrance to the industrial area."

"Therefore, the reason and the reasons that justify a totally political decision are not understood," insists David Rocío. "Why are they lying to us from the San Bartolomé City Council, the Lanzarote Cabildo, and the Canary Islands Government?" he asks.
