CC criticizes Lanzarote for remaining at level 2: "There are figures that apparently are valid for other islands, but not for us"

Coalición Canaria Lanzarote has asked the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, to "cease his efforts to punish, continuously and senselessly, the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, keeping them at level 2 of Covid alert, despite the decrease in the number of infections in recent weeks." In addition, although the decision depends on the regional Executive, his criticism has also included the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, accusing her of having the same "determination."

In this regard, the nationalists state that they do not understand why the island president "allows both islands to be ignored and is unable to raise her voice to protest against the double standard that is being applied, regardless of the terrible economic impact that this situation is having on the island's economy."

“We have been waiting for weeks to go down to phase 1, not out of whim, but because the epidemiological data supports it. Figures that, apparently, are valid for other islands, but not for us,” said the island secretary of the nationalists, Migdalia Machín, who asks for "coherence and rigor" from the president of the Canary Islands and the president of Lanzarote, considering that what both Lanzarote and La Graciosa are suffering is "a comparative offense."

For his part, the organization secretary of the nationalist formation on the island, Echedey Eugenio, maintains that "while the PSOE is dedicated to playing with the illusions, hopes and economy of the people of Lanzarote and Graciosa, aid to the self-employed and companies is still not arriving." “They are playing with the future and the lives of many people and they don't seem to care at all. What are the businessmen who have taken staff out of the ERTE going to do now, convinced that we were moving to Phase 1? Who is going to pay the restaurant businessmen for the merchandise they have bought, thinking about extending the opening hours?”, emphasizes Eugenio.

That is why CC Lanzarote has announced that it will request the appearance of María Dolores Corujo in the next plenary session of the Cabildo and Ángel Víctor Torres in the next plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, "so that they can explain what are the real reasons why they do not allow Lanzarote and La Graciosa to go down a phase and, by the way, explain it to all those businessmen who have already made a series of expenses in anticipation of the expected level decrease."

From Coalición Canaria they remember that alert level 1 implies that for the activity of hotels, restaurants and terraces, bars and cafeterias, the number of diners per table is increased to 10 people and the closing time to the public is also delayed.
