Between 50 and 60 percent of the officials of Lanzarote are supporting the strike called this Tuesday by the unions of the public function to protest against the measures to reduce the public deficit of the Zapatero Government, according to the figures that the CCOO and UGT unions have so far.
In the Canary Islands, the figure is similar to that of Lanzarote. The unions put the follow-up of the strike by public service workers at 63 percent, while the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands puts it at 6 percent.
Both, both unions and the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, agree that the strike day is developing without incidents, although the unions have stressed that the minimum services established by the Government of the Canary Islands "have been abusive since, on average, only one in three workers has had the right to strike".
At the national level, the difference in figures is even greater. While the unions claim that 75 percent of officials are supporting the strike day, the Government, for its part, has put the follow-up at 11 percent.
