The Department of Citizen Participation and Attention of the Arrecife City Council will begin next Tuesday, April 22, at the Maneje Sociocultural Center, the round of neighborhood meetings “scheduled to listen to the needs, concerns, and suggestions of the residents of our municipality”, says the councilor responsible for the Area, Cathaysa Suárez.

Under the slogan “Your voice counts, your opinion matters” the meetings will be held until June 25 in a total of eleven socio-cultural centers in the city's neighborhoods “in order to strengthen the dialogue between the local administration and the residents, thus promoting closer, more transparent, and participatory management”, highlights the councilor.

Starting at 7:00 p.m., the meetings will continue on April 23 at the Valterra Sociocultural Center, on April 30 at the Argana Alta Sociocultural Center, on May 7 at the Argana Baja Sociocultural Center, on May 14 at the El Cacharro Sociocultural Center, on May 21 at the Los Alonso Sociocultural Center, and on May 28 at the Altavista Sociocultural Center. The last four will take place in June. On the 4th at the San Francisco Javier Sociocultural Center, on the 11th at the Titerroy Sociocultural Center, on the 18th at the La Vega Sociocultural Center, and on the 25th at the Tinasoria Sociocultural Center.

Cathaysa Suárez emphasizes the importance of this round of meetings, in which she will be accompanied by other councilors from the government group, stating that “we want to listen directly to our residents, understand their real concerns, and work together on solutions. Citizen participation cannot be a decorative tool, but a fundamental pillar of our political action”.

Initially, the start of the neighborhood meetings was scheduled for this Wednesday, the 16th, but the Department of Citizen Participation and Attention has considered it appropriate to postpone the start to next week when it is expected that the shock cleaning tasks that are being carried out in the city after the rains that fell on the island last Saturday will have been completed.
