The Arrecife City Council plenary session approved this Wednesday to close three workshops located in different areas of the capital of Lanzarote for lacking the mandatory activity licenses. Two of these workshops were engaged in vehicle repair, and the other is an aluminum carpentry workshop. The closures have been decreed after inspections and investigations by the Local Police.
The Councilor for Classified Activities, Óscar López, explained in the plenary session that "in these three new cases of premises used for activities without having the mandatory and necessary qualifying titles, administrative procedures were initiated upon receiving complaints from affected residents at the Arrecife City Council." After these complaints were registered, the Local Police are mandated to visit the premises and carry out the corresponding investigations.
The reports from the intervening agents have confirmed the development of activity without the required authorizations. Two of these premises carried out mechanical workshop work for vehicles, and the third housed an aluminum carpentry workshop. The Classified Activities Area initiated the files and approved this Wednesday in the plenary session to sanction each firm with 15,001 euros, as it was determined that they are very serious infractions, and to proceed with the closure of these premises.
Councilor Óscar López detailed in the plenary session that, according to the Legislation, those affected can file the allegations they deem appropriate after receiving these sanctions. The sanctions had the favorable vote of the parties of the Government group (PP and CC), and the Mixed group (Vox), in the opposition. The PSOE abstained.
Óscar López emphasized that "the Arrecife City Council will continue to process the complaints filed by citizens. And the Local Police, in the fulfillment of their duties, will proceed to investigate and clarify the complaints registered by residents."
The Councilor for Classified Activities "makes a call to the owners of open premises with economic activities to update their situation and have the mandatory authorizations (qualifying titles) for the actual exercise of the activity they offer."
