The municipal government of the capital of Lanzarote is "revitalizing the city and supporting the commercial and hotel sector" with the organization of events that enable the presence of potential consumers in the commercial areas of Arrecife.

Within this line, the Department of Commerce and Tourism of the City Council of Arrecife, led by Councilor Eli Merino, promoted an allegorical contest during the past Halloween celebration to encourage local businesses to set their shop windows, as a claim to generate more visits and events. The City Council had planned an extensive program of activities, which were suspended after the tragedy caused by the torrential rains left by the Dana in Valencia, and the declaration of three days of official mourning in Spain.

The activity in the shop windows of the shops was already underway, many days before the tragedy, and the City Council of Arreche wanted to recognize the commercial sector for its involvement and participation in these initiatives to revitalize small businesses in the municipality of Arrecife.

The Halloween 2024 Shop Window Contest has been an initiative that "has had great participation and has filled the streets of Arrecife with creativity and festive spirit".

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the councilor for Commerce and Tourism, Eli Merino, personally visited the winning establishments yesterday and presented the awards and recognitions for their adhesion. The mayor and the councilor congratulated the merchants for their effort and originality. The first prize was awarded to the shop window of the sports shop Intersport, located on Francos street; the second prize went to Foto Estudio Gabriel, a historic photographic firm on Antonio Porlier y Sopranis street, and the third award went to the Bella'ss boutique, also located on Francos street in the capital of Conejera.

"We are very happy with the participation of the businesses of Arrecife in these revitalization actions that we regularly launch to support their sales," said Mayor Yonathan de León. "Activities like this not only boost local commerce, but also contribute to creating an atmosphere in our streets that attracts residents and tourists to enjoy the city, walking, shopping or consuming on the terraces and establishments." Yonathan de León has remarked that "the commercial and hotel sectors are complementary, generate synergies, and give life to the cities".

For her part, the Councilor for Commerce and Tourism, Eli Merino, highlighted the importance of promoting initiatives to support small businesses in the city: "Every year we see more creativity and innovation in the shop windows, and this type of contest allows us to reward the effort of our merchants, who work to offer the community unique experiences".

The Halloween Shop Window Contest is part of a series of activities promoted by the Department of Commerce to promote local consumption and boost the sector of SMEs and the self-employed in Arrecife. With outstanding participation and a high level in the decorations, this edition "has exceeded expectations and has contributed to promoting the city center".
