The Popular Party of Lanzarote proclaimed Antonio Martín Socas as candidate for Mayor of Haría on Tuesday night. During the event, the leader of the Lanzarote populars, Astrid Pérez, pointed out that Antonio has been and is "an entrepreneur who emerged from the town, he will work to ensure that Haría recovers the north and will have, I am sure, the support of the citizens."

The president of the PP highlighted two fundamental values of Martín Socas: "his loyalty and his great capacity for work. Our candidate has always been linked to the Popular Party since its implementation in the municipality of Haría." He added that since the democratic stage, the mayors of Haría have had a good school, the PSOE. "I hope that from May onwards, every resident of Haría will see who comes to work and who comes to stay in politics."

At the end of the presentation ceremony, which was attended by a large number of supporters and members, Martín Socas stated that he arrives with great enthusiasm and wants to contribute another way of doing things. He stressed that "like the majority of Haría residents, I share that the northern Town Hall must develop more transparency and administrative efficiency". "I advocate that Haría stop lurching, as has been happening in recent years with only two mayors who have passed through different parties. And that's how it's gone for us, Haría is not lifting anchors," he concluded.

Candidate profile

Antonio Martín, 48 years old, is the eighth of nine siblings from a Lanzarote family that emigrated in the 60s to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, according to the Popular Party. His mother, from Haría, and his father, from San Bartolomé, moved, like many families from the Island, to Gran Canaria, where the Popular Party candidate was born.

As a child, together with his parents and siblings, he returned to Haría, and since that time he has maintained his residence and home. He completed his academic training at the Nautical School of Fishing, as a Naval Mechanic and in recent years he has undertaken initiatives in the hospitality and commerce as a small businessman.
