Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife prevented in the early hours of this past Sunday a tragedy by preventing a 22-year-old woman from taking her own life in what appears to be a suicide attempt in the capital of Lanzarote.

According to what the City Council has reported, the events took place in the early morning, around 01:25 hours, last weekend, in the surroundings of the Castle of San Gabriel.

The agents were able to intervene after another young woman presented herself at the Local Police Headquarters, very close to the area, warning that this 22-year-old woman was in danger in the sea.

One of the agents, upon verifying that the woman was beginning to sink, took off his belt and jumped into the water to rescue her, while another police officer activated the health services from land.

An ambulance from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) was dispatched to the scene, whose paramedics proceeded to transfer them to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for medical evaluation.

The coordinated intervention and the rapid action of the agents allowed to rescue the woman and avoid more serious consequences.
