This Friday, March 20, Arrieta woke up to the fire of a van-bar installed for years in the Playa de La Garita area, in the municipality of Haría. But what happened next has turned the event into an example of neighborhood unity.
Throughout the entire day this Friday, numerous friends, acquaintances, and neighbors rallied to help the owner rebuild the van-bar, considered by many as an authentic symbol of La Garita Beach. From the early hours after the fire and until well into the morning, the area transformed into an improvised workshop where there was no shortage of hands to reconstruct what was damaged.
The result of that collective effort is already visible: the van is ready again, recovering its image in record time, just as can be seen in the disseminated images.
As a reflection of what was experienced, the van itself now displays a screen-printed phrase that summarizes everyone's sentiment: “What fire cannot burn.”
Additionally, through their social media, many of the neighbors have put is their social media the phrase: “The force of the united people” which has been key in the reconstruction showing thus their pride for the involvement of neighbors and friends.
