The Union of Civil Guards, an association attached to the Federation of Public Services of UGT, denounced this Tuesday that the coasts of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are "at this moment" without surveillance, because the only patrol boat in service, 'Canal Bocayna', has entered dry dock.

The association emphasizes that this same patrol boat has been operating for several months with an auxiliary boat "almost inoperative", since it has a broken steering, no navigation lights and loses air, among other damages, as stated in a statement.

Similarly, the association of civil guards recalls that Gran Canaria "has been without surveillance on its coasts for just over a month, since the only patrol boat entered the shipyard", and the note adds that "there is no knowledge of a date for it to function again".

"It is a lack of foresight and abandonment by the Administration towards the Security Forces and Corps that operate in this province", they protest in their statement, while pointing out that this abandonment "has been denounced on countless occasions without a package of measures being implemented to avoid the problem".
