The neighborhood association Adey Galguen has denounced that the Deko Hogar shopping center, located in Argana Alta, has been open for 4 months “without a commercial or opening license”. In addition, they have pointed out that as a result of their requirements, the City Council opened a sanctioning file to the company and ordered it, on February 24, the closure and paralysis of the activity within a period “not exceeding 10 days”, which has not yet been fulfilled.
The group points out that it was on December 14, 2021 when they presented a complaint to the competent departments of the capital's Consistory, including the Mayor's Office, regarding the alleged lack of activity license and suitability of the premises, and requesting “an inspection to confirm if the company has the mandatory licenses”.
Likewise, on December 18, they also submitted a letter to the General Directorate of Commerce requesting information on whether or not the business had the “mandatory specific commercial license”. The response from the Executive, according to Adey Galguen, arrived on February 14, and stated that Deko Hogar “does not have a specific commercial license”.
The neighborhood group details that this response indicates that Deko Hogar submitted the application for authorization for the installation and opening of the commercial establishment “19 days after it was inaugurated”. In addition, they point out that the public display of the authorization was published in the BOC on December 14, “two months after it opened its doors”.
The group adds that on February 12 they learned that the Consumer Affairs Department was going to proceed to “carry out an inspection to verify the reported facts”, and insist that it was “79 days after opening its doors, and still without the commercial license having been officially approved.”
In addition, the neighborhood association requested the Arrecife City Council, on February 22, to “carry out the appropriate inspections” in the commercial establishment, and to also respond to the first letter submitted.
According to them, the Councilor for New Technologies, Echedey Eugenio, responded to the neighborhood association stating that Deko Hogar “lacks a commercial license, a mandatory requirement for obtaining the municipal opening license”. This resolution was collected, according to Vecinos Unidos, by the representative of the group, Andrés Medina, this Friday, March 11.
“It would be a tremendous injustice that many entrepreneurs have to comply with the rules rigorously, while others come and open a business from one day to the next, without complying with those rules”, they denounce from the neighborhood association.
