The municipality of Haría says goodbye to Inés García García

The town of Haría lost this Monday Inés García García, at the age of 93, one of the "most beloved and emblematic" residents of the municipality, the City Council points out. Inés, the cook of Haría, as she was known by everyone, "knew how to earn the recognition of prominent figures from the world of culture and politics with her work, who came to her house to enjoy her good work in the kitchen."

The Haría City Council also highlights that "Inés welcomed anyone who wanted to enjoy an excellent homemade meal in her dining room." Numerous prominent figures from the world of culture such as César Manrique, Alfredo Kraus, Manolo Vieira, María Dolores Pradera, or from politics such as Jerónimo Saavedra or Manolo Medina and his wife María Dolores Pellicer, among others, passed through her table.

"Irreparable loss"

"Inés always had a smile and a kind word for everyone who came to her house, thus earning the affection and recognition of all who visited her," they add. Inés's food house, it is pointed out from the municipality, "became a point of reference, at a tourist and gastronomic level, for the town of Haría, thus becoming one of our most beloved ambassadors."

The Haría City Council awarded her the Haría Prize in 2006, and the mayor of the municipality, José Torres Stinga, deeply regrets "this irreparable loss, highlighting that with her an important part of the history of Haría is gone."
