A woman has reported to the Civil Guard the attack by a Belgian Malinois shepherd dog on her eight-year-old son in the town of Playa Blanca.
The events occurred last Sunday, May 10, when the minor went to one of the neighbors' homes where a friend of his lives to tell him and go to the beach.
Even though his mother had told him to wait a moment, the child went to the house on his own. Upon opening the door and the dog coming out, the animal lunged at his face and "tore off part of his lip and the area under his nose".
According to his mother told La Voz, another of the children from the house where the dog was went to look for her to tell her that the dog had attacked her son. "I started running towards the house and saw that the dog's owner, who is my son's friend's uncle, I saw that he was pressing the wound with paper and that he had a broken lip", she recounts.
The child received four stitches and had to be sedated upon arriving at the hospital due to the pain and nervousness he had.
The woman reports that the dog's owner, who has had different owners, has inappropriately trained the dog. This has made, she says, the dog become aggressive as can be seen in one of the videos published on social media by the owner.
Furthermore, in the complaint to which La Voz has had access, it is stated that the animal's owner told the child's mother that the dog did not have its vaccinations up to date and that the dog "was to defend the house". "This dog is next to a park and the police do nothing", she states.
This mother calls on all those people who have dogs, especially PPP (potentially dangerous dogs), to properly train their animals and to seek professional help if their dog needs training to avoid this type of situation.
The child, who is still recovering from the injuries, went to the doctor this Wednesday to have his stitches removed.
