The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has confirmed this Friday the detection of a 4.8 earthquake on the Richter scale west of Lanzarote and north of Gran Canaria. The event took place at a latitude of 28.7130 and a longitude of -15.2282.
The seismic event occurred at 09:50 hours at a depth of 30 kilometers and was felt by the population in fourteen towns: Santa María de Guía, Ingenio, Gáldar, Agaete, Valsequillo, Agüimes, Valleseco, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and La Vega de San Mateo.
For the moment, it is unknown if it was also felt in Lanzarote, as not all data has been collected yet.
