The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association presented this Thursday the grants to students that it awards every year. This year, the association has had the collaboration of several businessmen who have decided to "sponsor" some of those selected by said entity, which has allowed to grant scholarships to a total of 5 students.

The event was attended by the General Director of Educational Planning, Rafael Bailón, the Councilor of Education of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Carmen Rosa Márquez, the board of directors of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association and the different businessmen who have decided to contribute their grain of sand so that these young people can continue and finish their careers.

The beneficiaries of these grants have been 5 university students from Lanzarote with limited resources and a good academic record. Among those selected are Alejandro Dal Bosco Martínez, who is studying musicology in Barcelona, Abián Tejerina Santana, who will study the first year of a degree in mathematics at the ULL, Dilenia Sani Bonilla, who will study the degree in English Studies at the ULL, Andrea Bermúdez Morales, who is studying the first year of musicology in Madrid, and Christian Caicedo Pedroza, who will study the third year of architecture at the ULPGC.

This year the Association has been able to count on the help of the following companies: CICAR, Taba Control and Bodega Vega de Yuco. These have sponsored several young university students so that they can continue or begin their university studies. The group wanted to "deeply thank" their help, in order to increase the number of beneficiaries this year.

"With these grants, the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association is consolidated as the only NGO in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands that offers this type of aid to university students and therefore helps them to continue or begin higher education", the entity highlights.
