A couple from Lanzarote who reside in Barcelona and have both dedicated themselves to the world of cinema since they were very young, have developed a series inspired by the Canary Islands. Inda Urrestarazu, 25, and Carolina Argente, 33, have written the script for the series with the help of a professional screenwriter and the project promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands. A film laboratory to which 200 participants have submitted and in which 14 winners have been able to tell their own stories about the Canary Islands.
In their case, they are going to present the idea to various production companies in order to sell the anthology horror series 'Canarian Horror Stories', inspired by El Hierro and in which each chapter represents a Canarian legend. Different new characters and plots that begin and end in each chapter. Since last April, they have been preparing the project for six months, although the idea was already "we had it in mind in the summer of 2021", they revealed to La Voz. A script that occurred to them on vacation "while we were traveling in a motorhome through the Peninsula", Inda Urrestarazu highlighted.

The main objective of the series is to raise awareness about tourist responsibility in the Archipelago. "We want to attract sustainable tourism to the Canary Islands, in which the tourist comes and is interested in its culture." As the screenwriters have highlighted, it is "a metaphor for responsible tourism" to "give it the respect" it deserves.
With a very interesting plot and fundamentally inspired by Canarian legends, but all told in a very original and creative way. As they have told the newspaper, one of the chapters is about "the theft of black coral by some tourists who, when discovered, are punished by a monster from the ocean."
A script that will be presented to various production companies such as Atresmedia, Movistar Plus and many more, in addition to promising to relaunch the Canary Islands abroad.
Drug Trafficking Series inspired by Lanzarote
It is not the only script they have in hand. A next bet is for a drug trafficking series inspired by the immigration that arrives in the Canary Islands, specifically in Lanzarote. A draft that will be presented in February under the name 'Agitated Coast', Inda confessed. "I already have the entire series and the characters, I just need to polish some details," Urrestarazu has advanced.
The main objective is to make the viewer understand the origin of a topic "very latent today", she assures. A plot set in the year 94, which through artistic creation wishes to "show the root of how they entered the Archipelago", she added.
In addition, so great are their desires to continue creating and promoting the Canary Islands that they have another project pending called 'The Dance', a horror thriller located in La Villa de Teguise. Project in which they relate the legend of the 'Diabletes' of La Villa. They already have a production company interested in buying the local initiative, which will give them a definitive answer in January 2024.
They also have other plans for the future. "We would like to be able to form a production company in the Canary Islands," the boy reveals. Urrestarazu and Argente, both work, study and take care of their young daughter, all while combining it with their passion for writing. "I woke up early in the morning to write and while I was walking the little one, I sat on a park bench and kept writing", Inda confesses about her routine to complete the script.

Before going to sleep, they shared their ideas as a finishing touch to end the day. "At night we reviewed the scenes between the two of us," Argente reveals. "We have had to give up and sacrifice a lot of free time" to get the project out. In addition to leaving many commitments and outings to "have a drink" with friends and family, but without any regrets since "if you like something, you make time to dedicate yourself to it" at any time of the day, the young woman concludes.
