"We can be happy because the final objective has been achieved: to obtain the necessary permits to celebrate this 24th Isla de los Volcanes Dirt Rally", said the director of Club Evesport, Víctor Rodríguez at the presentation ceremony that took place this Tuesday at the Castillo de San José. The organization has specified that the Isla de los Volcanes Dirt Rally has been authorized to run three sections and that it will take place between December 1st and 3rd.
The event was attended by various authorities, such as the Island Council's Sports Councillor, Alfredo Mendoza, the Arrecife City Council's Sports Councillor, Rosmen Quevedo, the Mayor of the Tinajo City Council, Jesús Machin, the acting president of the FCA, Benito Rodríguez, the acting president of the FALP, Miguel Ángel Domínguez, and the president of Evesport and organizer of the event, Víctor Rodríguez.
The presentation was also attended by the world champion driver, Henning Solberg, and the 2022 CERT champion, Juan Carlos Quintana, who will open the rally with number 2, as number 1 has been reserved in memory of the deceased driver Francisco "Paco" Romero.
Rodríguez said that they have "achieved a consensual rally, and the sections have been modified respecting all the indications of the Environment, as well as Heritage, Territorial Policy, Classified Activities, Sports, Coasts and island councils".
The authorized sections are those that go from Puerto del Carmen to Mácher, from Tabayesco to Mala and from Tinajo to Las Betancoras. In addition, the green light has been given to two "preliminary" tests called "road testing" and "shakedown". From the organization they consider that "the elimination of some sections will not detract from the appeal as the parts that are most liked are maintained".
