The first classes of nurses specialized in Family and Community Medicine and Pediatrics have just completed their specialized training. In total, there are eight nurses, six from the first class and two from the fifth, with whom the health area of Lanzarote will be able to count on from now on to incorporate them into the island's health corps.
For two years, the nurses have carried out several research projects and training activities among the health centers of the island of Lanzarote and the Molina Orosa Hospital.
In the case of the Pediatric and Obstetric-Gynecological specialty nurses, they were also at the Complejo Hospitalario Universitario Insular Materno Infantil de Gran Canaria.
Last week, the residency completion ceremony took place where the Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist nurses presented their research papers.

The Family and Community Medicine nurses presented the papers entitled "Detection of frailty and risk of falls in people over 70 years of age" and "How the pandemic has affected the control and monitoring of Type 2 Diabetes".
For their part, the specialists in Pediatrics defended the project "Analysis of the incidence of admissions for non-OCVID19 infectious respiratory pathologies in Pediatrics during the pre-pandemic and SARS-COV2 pandemic period at the Hospital Materno Infantil de Canarias", while the Obstetric Gynecology Nursing staff presented the study "Rates of breastfeeding in postpartum women after cesarean section at the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital".
During the last two years, the Multiprofessional Teaching Unit of the Insular Health Management has been in charge of training the nurses as well as supervising the rotations of this staff through the different primary care centers and specialized care services of Lanzarote.
Both the management of Primary Care and Specialized Care were satisfied with the work developed by the Teaching Unit in terms of the training of these nurses from different specialties who are now joining the health centers to start and develop their professional careers.
