CD Tahíche is now a Regional Preferente team. The Lanzarote team culminated a season to remember this Sunday by certifying their promotion after defeating UD Jandía 3-2 in a match full of emotion and tension until the last minute. However, the historic sporting feat was seriously tarnished by the regrettable incidents recorded after the final whistle.
The match, played with promotion at stake, maintained enormous intensity on the field. The tension accumulated during the ninety minutes ended up exploding once the match was over, when several players from both teams were involved in a brawl that quickly grew in scale.
Images released by Radio Televisión Sur Fuerteventura show how the situation got out of control in a matter of seconds. Several fans who entered the pitch joined the fight between the footballers, generating moments of great confusion. Among the most reprehensible episodes, the aggression of a Tahíche player against an opponent when the contest had already ended is observed, a fact that contributed to further raising the tension.
Given the seriousness of the events, members of the Local Police of Teguise, present at the facilities to guarantee the security of the match, had to intervene to separate those involved and restore order in the sports venue.
The incidents marred a day that should have been marked exclusively by the celebration of a historic promotion for the Lanzarote team. A sporting achievement that comes after a season of effort, consistency, and commitment, and which returns CD Tahíche to a higher category.
The club has wanted to highlight the merit of the squad and the coaching staff, calling the promotion the result of the work done throughout the campaign and the confidence maintained in the project until the end, although the events after the match have partially overshadowed a day that was meant to be a celebration for the entity.
