The College of Physicians inaugurates a new headquarters in Lanzarote, "larger, more comfortable and full of possibilities", reports the association. "It is a private building with two floors that quintuples its old available surface area," they say. It goes from being in an office floor of about 120 m2 to a private building of 620 m2, they collect.
Located on the San Bartolomé road, number 52, one of the best known and busiest roads in the capital, they add. Its location "is ideal, due to its proximity, connection, ease of parking and being close to the main hospitals and primary care centers of Arrecife", they clarify. With this inauguration "the commitment" of the Board of Directors to "renew and provide more space to the members in Lanzarote" is fulfilled, they confirm.
The collegiate members of the Island's Representation Body, as well as various health authorities of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo and the Arrecife City Council, attended the inauguration ceremony.
Pedro Cabrera, president of the College of Physicians of Las Palmas, highlighted "the role of doctors in society and the importance of the Colleges of Physicians", as well as "the importance of their presence and activity", "not only for doctors but for society in general", he defends. In this sense, he celebrated the new facilities, which "are already updated to current and future needs".
"The evolution of medical membership has been increasing since the 60s, when there were only 16 doctors." "At the beginning of the 2000s, it was around 250." "Today, nearly 700 doctors take care of the Island," commented Carlos García Zerpa, member of the College between 2006 and 2010, at the inauguration.
"This building will be a symbol for the medical profession in Lanzarote"
For his part, Vicente Román Peris, member from 2010 to 2018, praised "the evolution of the physical spaces of the Institution on the island, aligned with the growth of membership." He concluded that, "now, this building will be a symbol for the medical profession in Lanzarote."
Aniuska Sutil, collegiate member of the Representation Body, highlighted that "as the only ones responsible for the decisions to be adopted for the doctors of the island, we listen to our members and saw that it was time to grow in space and comfort." She recalls that they analyzed "the feasibility of finding a new property with many more advantages, in order to cover the new and current needs," she explained.
The new building consists of "a private building with direct street-level entrance, two floors and a walkable roof terrace", she emphasizes. In short, "the surface area amounts to 620 useful square meters."
With a "diaphanous" interior on both floors, which allows it to be configured for current and future needs, such as "training, events, etc.", she announces.
