Arrecife now has a new children's murga, Los Gorfinijos, the chinija version of the murga Los Gorfines. "Since we formed our group, we have wanted to have another one for children, but we did not have a place with good conditions where they could rehearse, so we had to wait," explains the president of the murga, Juan José Gutierrez. But the wait is over and Los Gorfinijos, although newly born, already show good manners and passion, as they demonstrated in their presentation. The interpretation of a song dedicated to the children who are missing in the Canary Islands, did not leave anyone indifferent.
The group is made up of 39 children, whose ages range from a year and a half of the youngest, son of one of the members of Los Gorfines, to 13 years of the oldest. "You should see how eager and how much strength they put into what they do", says Juan José proudly, who takes the opportunity to invite the whole island to participate and enjoy the Carnival 2010 festivities.
