The Arrecife City Council wants to publish two works by Agustín de la Hoz that never saw the light of day

The Arrecife City Council has just officially received the legacy of his work and is already considering the possibility of publishing two works from the documentary, bibliographic and photographic collection of Agustín de la Hoz. On the one hand, a work by the Lanzarote journalist and writer that is practically finished about the Charco de San Ginés, and on the other, one that focuses on the history of the Arrecife sailing ships, which contains photographs, drawings and even data about the area in which they fished.

This was confirmed on Monday morning by the Councilor for Culture of the Council, Miguel Ángel Ferrer, and the mayor of the town, Enrique Pérez Parrilla, who presented this collection that will be kept in the Municipal Archive of the capital. And it is that through the agreement signed between the widow and daughter of Agustín de la Hoz, Pilar Perdomo and Nereida de la Hoz, and the mayor of Arrecife, Enrique Pérez Parrilla, the writer and journalist's collection has been ceded, free of charge, to the capital's Consistory. According to his relatives, this was Agustín de la Hoz's wish, so that his manuscripts and documents could be consulted by prepared people and become part of the island's cultural heritage.

The City Council reserves the right to publish both the complete and incomplete works of the author, although for the latter the family has stipulated that in the event that they are published, they must be published as the writer and journalist left them.

More than 150 documents including photographs, books, newspapers and articles that make up a collection in which, for example, fishing agreements with Morocco, festival speeches and even conferences given by de la Hoz are kept. Given the need to hire more staff, access to this collection will be restricted. "We want to open another place to have the collection open permanently." Likewise, Ferrer has also indicated that they are studying the possibility of placing a bust of Agustín de la Hoz at the entrance to the archive.
