The Christian community of Teguise inaugurated Holy Week on Saturday afternoon with the procession of the Burrita. Around 5:30 p.m., dozens of people gathered at the souk of the Church of the Santísimo Cristo de la Vera Cruz and next to the image of the Lord with the Burrita, the parish priest, Nicanor Bermúdez, blessed the olive branches carried by all the children and adults present there.
After the blessing of the branches, the procession began, touring some of the main streets of the Historic Site of La Villa until reaching the mother church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. In this completely full temple, the Holy Mass was celebrated. The faithful with much recollection participated in the celebration with which the great week for Christians begins. This celebration is very special because the Passion of the Lord is read in it.
Throughout the week, numerous events related to "Holy Week" will be held in the different churches of the municipality of Teguise.
