Teguise will pay tribute to the timple craftsman Juanele Morales and also to the folklorist Juan Quintero next Friday the 23rd at 9:00 p.m. For this purpose, the Casa-Museo del Timple will host a tribute concert, which will feature performances by Los Campesinos and the Fuerteventura timple player Altahay Páez, a student of Domingo El Colorao and a prominent representative of the new generation of timple soloists.

In addition, he will be accompanied by the pianist Domingo Saavedra. During the event, various videos will praise the figure of both honorees and a souvenir will be given to their families.

The timple craftsman Juanele Morales was born in Caleta de Famara, where he had his workshop, next to the Vera Cruz hermitage. His grandfather, Francisco Morales de León, taught this art to his son Simón Morales Tavío, Juanele's father. Thus, a tradition of three generations of artisans was consummated, of great prestige throughout the Canary Islands.

Juanele signed his timples with an "H", just as his father did in honor of his grandfather, who at only 15 years old, in 1871, made his first instrument. More than a hundred years of family tradition manufacturing timples made Juanele and his predecessors a family saga of great importance for the development and expansion of the timple, contributing "decisively to its consolidation as the most representative symbol of sound identity of this land", highlighted the City Council of Teguise.

For his part, Juan Quintero, raised from the age of two in Tao, was one of the best singers of traditional folklore in the Canary Islands. His style of the "Isa del Uno" marked a way of interpreting this genre, which he combined with his magnificent folías, seguidillas or malagueñas. He was a member of the prestigious group Los Campesinos and its president for many years.

The event, organized by the Department of Culture of the Teguise City Council, coordinated by Olivia Duque, has the collaboration of the companies Binter Canarias, CICAR and Blue Seas Hoteles. Admission will be free until full capacity.
