It was 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon when a large downpour surprised drivers traveling on the ring road between Arrecife and Costa Teguise. Thus, among the most notable events is the closure of Avenida Manolo Millares, one of the main access and exit routes between Arrecife and San Bartolomé, which will remain closed for at least two hours because it is flooded. Also, more than a hundred troops are pumping and bailing water from the streets of the capital.

The heavy and intermittent rains, already forecast by the State Meteorological Agency for the early hours of this Thursday and the morning of this Friday, were delayed and a change of wind caused the road to the roundabout that connects Arrecife with Tahíche to be flooded in a matter of minutes.

The underpass under the bridge concentrated several centimeters of rainwater and the vehicles had difficult times to cross from the capital to the municipality of Teguise. For this reason, the Emergency teams had to intervene, from agents of the Civil Guard, to personnel of Road Conservation of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

According to the Security and Emergency Consortium, the rain gauge of the Uga Fire Station has recorded 2.2 liters per square meter. At the same time, the Areccife park has recorded 35 millimeters. "There has been a change of wind and there have been more than 100 incidents, we are still solving them. What little has fallen, has fallen in Arrecife," explained the manager of the Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, to La Voz de Lanzarote.

Thus, no significant rainfall is expected for the last hours. Meanwhile, the observation of Aemet recorded 1.4 millimeters of rain at the Lanzarote Airport at 2:00 p.m. this Friday.
