The young timple player from Valsequillo Laura Martel performed for the first time at the Casa-Museo del Timple in Teguise, presenting her musical show "With Women's Names", an idea to motivate other young people to come closer and learn more about the timple.
Laura Martel is today the only woman who takes the stage, thus demonstrating that when one sets out to do it, the dreamed projects are achieved. Martel began at a very early age attending the classes taught at the municipal music school of Valsequillo, in Gran Canaria. She has completed her musical training by attending courses with the greats of the timple such as the late José Antonio Ramos, Totoyo Millares, Benito Cabrera and Domingo Rodríguez El Colorao.
For this concert, Laura had the collaboration of her friends and great musicians: Cristina Sánchez on bass, Manolo Matos on guitar and vocals, and Carlos Franquiz on percussion. Con Nombres de Mujer covers a careful musical selection from the most traditional of Canarian music such as folías, polkas, isas, berlina, to compositions by the greats of classical music such as Beethoven or modern music such as Michael Jackson. Before the end of the concert, Paco Chinea, producer of Estudios Multritak, presented him with the concert poster.
