The people of Lanzarote wait on average six months to be able to have a simple ultrasound, one of the complementary tests offered by public hospitals in the Canary Islands. This is according to data published by the Canary Islands Health Service regarding the wait for complementary tests in December 2025.
The Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital has the second worst average delay in the Canary Islands for this test, only behind the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, in Tenerife, where patients wait one more day than in Lanzarote to undergo a simple ultrasound. In total, 183.95 days. Despite the days of delay, in Lanzarote 384 patients are waiting for this test, compared to 3,219 in the Tenerife hospital.
After the simple ultrasound, the test with the longest waiting list is mammograms. On average, a patient waits around 34 days to undergo this test. In total, in December 2025, there were thirteen people waiting to undergo this test.In the rest of complementary tests, the waiting list is less than a month. For example, to have a CT scan, patients on the island wait on average around 29.49 days.
