The French jazz singer Laïka Fatien will present her latest album "Misery", a tribute to the legendary Billie Holiday, next Thursday, April 15, at the Teatro de San Bartolomé.
Tickets for the concert, which will take place at 9:00 p.m., can be purchased, at the price of 20 euros, at the El Almacén Island Culture Center and at the Culture Department of the San Bartolomé City Council. Fatien's concert will be possible thanks to the organization of the Culture Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Social Work of the Caja de Canarias, with the collaboration of the San Bartolomé City Council.
Laïka Fatien is considered by specialized critics as "an artist of extraordinary interpretive quality, elegant, sensual and with a delicate and deep voice." Some jazz publications and websites have compared her more than once with great ladies of jazz of all time, such as Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday. And it is precisely to the latter that the French performer dedicates her latest album.
Fatien, who has in her repertoire songs by Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson or Nicholas Payton, presents songs that arise from her meeting with the theater director Philippe Adrien, who a couple of years ago proposed to her to bring Billie's existence to the stage, in an album inspired by the music that Holliday performed, but with new original arrangements.
