The General Directorate of Economic Resources of the Canary Islands Health Service will allocate 798,027.52 euros to the contracting of 128 portable ultrasound machines for the health centers of all the islands, co-financed by the European Union. This is one of the measures contemplated within the Comprehensive Primary and Community Care Strategy, +AP.
The bidding process for the contracting procedure has been initiated, through an open process and ordinary processing, for the supply, installation and maintenance of these ultrasound machines. Likewise, the supply of 128 tablets and 128 briefcases is included as accessory components necessary for the operation of the equipment.
The supply and installation of the equipment and products will be carried out during the years 2024 and 2025. Regarding the planned distribution, 46 ultrasound machines will be allocated to health centers in Tenerife, another 46 to centers in Gran Canaria, eleven to Lanzarote, nine to Fuerteventura, eight to La Palma, six to La Gomera and two to El Hierro.
The successful company must also develop the training of medical personnel through courses for training in the effective and efficient management of the equipment, as well as training for non-health personnel, with a minimum of two electromedicine technicians per Primary Care Management and one technician per Health Services Management for carrying out preventive maintenance programs.
With the incorporation of this equipment, family medicine and pediatrics professionals can use ultrasound as another exploration tool in their clinical practice and, in this way, more adequately guide their diagnoses, which has a positive impact on the quality of care provided to the population.
