The "Futurama" float, from Máguez, is the one that won the first prize of the Grand Parade of Floats, whose authors received a check for 900 euros. The second prize went to San Bartolomé, specifically to the float "The Guardians of Siam", which was awarded 600 euros, while the third place went to "The Beach Watchers", from Arrieta, awarded 450 euros.
Although these floats could not go out last Wednesday due to the decision of the Arrecife City Council to suspend the celebration of the Burial of the Sardine in Arrecife due to the orange alert decreed by the Government of the Canary Islands, the winning floats received their prize from the Department of Celebrations.
Many people invaded the main streets of Arrecife in what has turned out to be the most massive event of these festivities: the Grand Parade of Floats of the Arrecife Carnival 2010. From Minnies, firefighters, Sponge Bobs, little witches, Bob Marleys, clowns... to mechanics, mimes, pirates, wild flowers and, of course, some Michael Jackson, in homage to the allegory of this year's Arrecife Carnival passed through the stage of the Medular Avenue. A Carnival that has suffered a sudden end due to bad weather and with which there will be a new appointment next year.
