Film director Gorka Merchán will travel to Tías to present his feature film "La Casa de mi Padre". The event will take place on Thursday, July 4 at the La Ermita de San Antonio Art Room, as part of the municipality's cultural program. At the end of the film, Merchán will participate in a discussion.
The film stars Carmelo Gómez, Enma Suárez, Juan José Ballesta and Verónica Echegui. Carmelo Gómez plays Txomin Garay, a businessman threatened by ETA, who returns to his town after 10 years in exile in Argentina. The main reason for Txomin's trip, in which he is accompanied by his wife Blanca (Emma Suárez) and his only daughter Sara (Verónica Echegui), is that his brother Koldo, an abertzale councilor and with whom he has not spoken for years, is dying.
Koldo, very weakened by the disease and now separated from his long-standing enmity with Txomin due to the extreme differences between them, entrusts his brother with a delicate task: redirecting his teenage son Gaizka (Juan José Ballesta), a promising pelota player but who flirts with the 'kale borroka' and who does not quite focus on the game.
The screening will be on July 4 at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free. Bodegas Vulcano will offer a tasting of its Malvasia wines.
