Coalition Canaria accuses the Government Group of San Bartolomé of not being on the side of the City Council workers

"Although they were invited by the Works Council of the San Bartolomé City Council, no member of the municipal Government Group, made up of eight councilors from the PSOE and the PIL and chaired by the mayor, Marcial Martín, deigned to attend the Assembly of Labor Personnel of the City Council, held this Monday," said Juan Antonio de la Hoz. According to him, the government coalition issued a brief letter of apology in which it explained that they were not attending because they did not want to restrict the freedom of expression of the workers. "From Coalición Canaria we believed that in democratic institutions like ours, no person has to feel restricted by the presence of a mayor or a government councilor," declares the spokesperson for Coalición Canaria, and adds: "we understand that those forms were from other less free times."

On the other hand, Juan Antonio de la Hoz asks Marcial Martín "to urgently convene the Negotiating Committee of the Collective Agreement for the Labor Personnel of the San Bartolomé City Council." The objective, according to the spokesperson, is to resume negotiations for the revision of the current agreement, with the Works Council, and "that the mayor does not continue with delaying tactics to delay its approval." For Coalición Canaria, "it is a priority that negotiation deadlines be set that do not exceed this year 2008 and that a new agreement be signed that is beneficial for both parties."

Despite the harsh criticism, the CC spokesperson extends a hand to the Government Group to reach a consensus, both with the new Labor Agreement "and with other issues that improve the functioning of the municipal institution and the public services for citizen attention."
