CEIP Ajei has been named as an ambassador center for "Save The Children", in the promotion and defense of children's rights. This recognition will be made official at the event that will take place on the occasion of the celebration of Peace Day, on Thursday, January 30, in front of the Municipal Theater.
Juan Guilló, head of social mobilization for "Save The Children", will present a distinction to the director of CEIP Ajei, Carlos de la Coba Viera, thus recognizing the work carried out by the center in favor of children's rights. This is the first center in Lanzarote to obtain this distinction, which is currently held by 100 schools throughout Spain.
The declaration of intent will be signed with the signatures of Alberto Soteres González, general director of "Save The Children", and children representing the three cycles of Primary and Infant education, in addition to the school's management.
The mayoress of San Bartolomé, María Dolores Corujo, has congratulated the center for this appointment and has recalled that the school actively participates in the development of solidarity as "a fundamental value for coexistence". CEIP Ajei currently collaborates in two projects, the sponsorship of children in Southeast Asia, and in the campaigns that "Save The Children" carries out to raise funds.
In these campaigns, it participates in solidarity races whose proceeds have been used to make children from different parts of the world have "hope and new opportunities", according to the City Council.
Each school year they collect various types of materials, such as food, medicines, toys, books or school supplies, destined for different parts of the world and in collaboration with the San Bartolomé City Council, the Los Lirios Neighborhood Association (Tías) and other organizations.
