Lanzarote's holiday homes charged an average of 171 euros per night in April, which represents 8.5% less than they had earned on average twelve months earlier when the average rate stood at 187 euros, according to figures provided by the Lanzarote Data Center.

And that's despite the fact that last month there were 6,908 holiday properties in Lanzarote, almost 1,200 fewer holiday properties than a year earlier, when there were 8,097.

Regarding the number of available tourist places, this April there were 31,000 compared to 36,800 last year.

Furthermore, occupancy fell. While this April it stood at 89.4%, the same month last year it was also higher last year (93%).

Thus, the revenue from holiday homes last month amounted to 14.5 million euros, which is 7.6 million euros less than what they earned a year earlier when the total was 22.1 million euros.

A positive figure for the holiday home business is that the average stay has increased from 4.6 days to 5.3 days.

Not all types of holiday homes lowered prices. Holiday homes with up to four places charged 119 per night, exactly the same as they charged in April last year.

On the other hand, holiday homes with between five and eight places went from charging an average of 271 euros per night in April last year, to 233 euros last month.

Holiday homes with more than eight places also lowered prices, from 495 euros per night to 488 euros in April this year.
