This Friday, September 27, a new meeting of the collective "Friends of Costa Teguise " took place at the Hotel Playa Verde, an event promoted by the Tourism area of the Teguise City Council and which brings together representatives of tour operators, hoteliers, and other companies in the tourism sector in Costa Teguise every year, with the aim of exchanging professional experiences and making a diagnosis of the situation of Costa Teguise as a tourist town.
"Although we have always wanted to give this meeting an informal character, it is a very important moment in which we celebrate the tourism milestones achieved with the business people of the sector and in which we also take note of the shortcomings of Costa Teguise, to propose and undertake the investments that are necessary from the Department of Tourism", said Antonio Callero as the highest authority in the area.
This VII Meeting of Friends of Costa Teguise, also included the presence of Rita Hernández, as General Director of Tourism Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands.
For his part, the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, wanted to express "the pride that it means for the municipality to have excellent professionals in the tourism sector, the economic engine and source of job creation." "Thanks to the coordinated effort between public and private agents, we have managed to make Costa Teguise rebound as a tourist destination in the Canary Islands, improving the occupancy and profitability data of the municipality every year."
In this sense, Betancort, assured that the City Council will continue working in the same line, "in order to increase cooperation between public and private management, and promote the positioning of the destination, but without failing to promote the tourist awareness of the residents, who will also benefit from the wealth that new tourist investments can attract."
Awards from Friends of Costa Teguise
This year, the Friends of Costa Teguise wanted to recognize the professional work and contribution to the promotion of the tourist town of Costa Teguise to two companies in the area. On the one hand, to the French tour operator Thalasso nº1, which a few days ago also received the Isla de Lanzarote Tourism Award. And to the Antiú Xixona ice cream parlor, located on the Costa Teguise Promenade, for its quality offer.
