The Arrecife City Council has implemented prior appointments for social workers to process social emergency aid aimed at guaranteeing food for vulnerable families residing in the municipality. Thus, since this Monday, May 11, the Department of Social Services, Equality and Immigration, under the direction of the popular councilor María Jesús Tovar, has municipal workers assigned to telephone assistance for people who wish to process social aid.
Until this Monday, the Social Services had a call center - which has already stopped providing this service - where teleoperators were in charge of channeling these requests by telephone. Now, municipal personnel will answer the phone calls, and for this purpose, a prior appointment will be granted, providing on the first call the day and time when they will be attended by social workers for the approval of food aid.
Those interested in receiving this aid should contact the toll-free number 900 21 43 01, between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., to be assigned an appointment, also by telephone, with social workers, to whom they must accredit the situation of social emergency and vulnerability.
Families who are granted this aid will receive a code number on their phones that will allow them to directly withdraw food and hygiene products for the amount of the approved aid. This aid may be extended in the coming weeks according to the needs of each family, and the period of alert due to the coronavirus.
People who reside and are registered in Arrecife, lack economic resources, are vulnerable and do not have employment, can apply for these aids endowed with between 135 euros and 296 euros depending on the children and members of the family.
